Bug submission is most definitely of great help to us in finding the weaknesses
we need to correct in moving the product on to GA status. A great number of
bugs have been fixed in the forthcoming 5.1.6 release (they are all listed in
the bug database under the section Partitioning). However there are still many
issues left to fix and we are most happy to hear about new issues and how we
can reproduce them.
In MySQL 5.1.6 many improvements of the partitioning implementation have been
added which will hopefully make it even more useful. Among others in the area of
much faster management of partitions for large tables and great improvements of
how the optimizer will take partitioning into account in selecting query plan.
