Cannot successfully execute mysql.exe
Hi,
I am trying to install MySQL as per SAMS Teach Yourself SQL and when I double click on mysql.exe in the bin folder, the window opens but only momentarily before disappearing again. It doesn't stay open, hence I don't get a mysql> prompt, so presumably something's wrong. I had tried this some time ago with a different version and it didn't work, now am trying 4.1 on Windows XP and getting the same problem.
What is wrong? What can I do to get this working as I'm still not getting anywhere with this?
