First of all thank you for your excellent help. I followed the instructions for the first site in your list and everything appeared to go well until I got to the access of the new instance - then I got the following error:

root@dev [/usr/local/csmaster/mysql]# bin/mysql --port=3301 --socket=/tmp/csmaster.sock
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/csmaster.sock' (2)

I did not use the oracle... but my testing is all based on csmaster and csslave so directories and commands are named accordingly.

/usr/local/csmaster
/var/lib/csmaster etc...

not sure how the socket file should be handled - thank you again.
