Re: mysqld fails to startup on Fedora Core 3
I had the same trouble and managed to solve it by
1. Changing /etc/selinux/config and putting SELINUX=disabled
This is not the best thing to do as it reduces the security if the system.
2. I could not find how to apply this policy so I rebooted.
3. SELinux was disabled then but I had to run /usr/bin/mysql_install_db to create the mysql database and then it was OK.
