There is a RPM, that contains "/usr/bin/time", on Red Hat and maybe some other Linux distribution.

Reading the 5.5.9 spec file, you might make this work if you do

rpmbuild --rebuild --clean --define "distro_specific 1" MySQL-5.5.9-1.sles11.src.rpm
