MySQL Proxy stabilization

Hey All
After using MySQL-Proxy for awhile, I've notice that the component still in Alpha for more than 3 years:

I've checked most linux distros and in all of them there is no mention that is alpha or not stable.
Is there any issue that MySQL-Proxy still in alpha stage?
