I have red about mysql proxy and found it very interesting. Especially for the case where you cannot touch the application (closed source from vendor), and the sql queries are far way from optimized. Such an interface between the rdbms and the application would be very helpfull. I don't know if there is such a thing, if yes, please inform me, but if not then it would be highly helpfull...
