I have the same problem in version 5.0.21 (latest)
I have two tables which I have set up a FK relationship with. The line and "crow feet" symbology are not visible after the relationship is made, but the new realtionship IS visible under the "foreign key" tab.
Now, if I select "create diagram from object model" under "model" menu item, the new relationship then is visible.
This tool seems to be more effort than its worth...
