we want to help, please explain your situation:

You have an existing ERP, that uses Informix database.
- Question: Which platform (e.g. Win 7, Linux, Solaris, AIX) does it run on?

1) You will be building new applications
- Tools: code editors (e.g. vi, emacs, Visual Studio, Eclipse)
- Question: Will these apps be written in Visual Basic, PHP, Java?

2) The new applications will use MySQL as their database
- Question: Which platform (e.g. Win 7, Linux, Solaris, AIX) will the MySQL Database Server run on?

3) The new MySQL Database will have Workench as its administration tool
- Question: Which platform (e.g. Win 7, Linux, Solaris, AIX) will the MySQL Workbench Tool run on?

4) The new MySQL database needs to be populated with data from the existing Informix database
- Tools: MySQL Workbench Migration Wizard to do the database migration
- assuming the ERP+Informix are functioning apps, you will have to populate the MySQL database on a periodic (e.g. hourly, daily) basis.

Let us know if the above is not correct.

Edwin
