Sure, I'm aware of all that. But Workbench and MySQL do have library search paths on all OSes, one of which is the path I mentioned on Windows. When the DLL is included, the error message goes away and Workbench auths correctly. I'm aware that it's not from an Oracle product that I'm using (I mentioned explicitly to take the DLL from MariaDB).
I would be interested to know why Oracle hasn't implemented Dialog in Workbench nnatively since it would be pretty easy. But regardless, for people who are experiencing this problem it does work for me.
