Hey Peter, so I did exactly that; I updated the original post on stackexchange - if I put the function in the Query Executor of Workbench, it works fine. However the EXACT same code (which includes a copy from the SQL documentation) ALWAYS fails on the GET statement as a new Routine. I've honestly given up trying to solve this issue and am thinking of switching to MSSQL because of this problem (and the fact no community member has been able to help solve it for 5 days). If you could figure it out, I would be in your debt.
