Moving installation to another server

Hi. I rebuild my box recently but realized after the fact that I forgot to do a mysqldump on my tables. I copied all the files before the rebuild though. I figured OK, I'll just install the same version on my new build in the same location and copy over all the files. Did that but MySQL will not start: Error 1067 The process terminated unexpectedly.

Why won't this work? Is the install tied to the original machine somehow? I would have thought copying everything would make it work. Any ideas?
