Hard disk automatic recover

I have 2 machines with 2 hard drives. Both have the same database. They are connected as MASTER-MASTER. Suppose one of them fails. Then we have to connect another hard drive. As that is possible to implement automatic synchronization? Is there any reason to automatically create the same database and synchronize with the first hard disk without interference and without turning off first machine?
