mysqlfrm tries to find mysqld in the basedir. If it's not in the default location you can specify other location

mysqlfrm --basedir /usr/share/twindb/mysql-5.7.11-linux-glibc2.5-x86_64 tbl.frm



Or you can upload the .frm file on https://recovery.twindb.com/ and it will extract the schema from it.
