What free tool are you talking about? Link, please?

All we promise in the forums here is "best effort from whoever happens to be around". Please bear in mind that a lot of the folks participating here don't work for Oracle, and are not getting paid to help you.

If Sales really told you something different, then someone needs to have a little chat with them about that.

So did you run the SQL statement that Peter provided you in the mysql client? That should provide you with the location of the MySQL data directory (datadir). That's a key piece of info, and nobody is going to be able to help you very much without it.
