Ok thanks for the answer.

BTW, let me add my opinion on the direction of Connector C++: the spirit of C++ is to let the programmer shoot him/herself on the foot should s/he want to.

In that spirit, it would be disappointing to prevent her from accessing the C API.

The JDBC API is only a subset of what mySQL provides in its C API.

My vote is for the C++ library to be a superset of that.
