I am not trying to develop a C program to use X DEV API; I am trying to use the legacy C MYSQL functionality. I did not see anything in the document you referred to that discusses compiling existing C program mysql logic with this new connector. I am doing this because I don't have the older legacy C Connector and its libmysqlclient dylib files and the description of the 8.0.19 C++ Connector implied that it could be used for legacy C programs also.
