I'm sorry but I can not confirm that I am able to change the DATA directory (MySQL data files).

I just installed 5.6.24 (clean setup) of Server, Workbench, Utilities - but on all possible selections with Advanced Options I was only able to select the installation path of the programs - but not where the DATA file should be.

The installer of the server should ask for the DATA files where I get asked for Error-Logs. I can remember back to MySQL 4 or early 5 this was very nice.

Finally - the 2nd try (5.6.23 a week ago) to make a clean installation also failed and the data file dir is on my small SSD ...

datadir=C:/ProgramData/MySQL/MySQL Server 5.6/Data

Finally - can I stop the service, change my.ini "datadir" value incl. moving files from the dir to another harddisk, start the service? Or any other things to change?
