Re: Sidebar missing Open MySQL Connection
Hi Adrian,
The welcome panel where you see the New Connection and Manage Connection action labels contains a list (above those 2 actions) with the connections you can open.
The connections you see there are shared with MySQL Workbench, as long as the installed Workbench version is 5.2.42 or higher. Meeting this condition, the list of connections you see in MySQL Workbench and MySQL for Excel will be the same, meaning that if you add, update or delete a connection in either application, the other will be affected.
If at the first time MySQL for Excel runs, MySQL Workbench is NOT installed, then MySQL for Excel will be maintaining its own list of connections. If at this point you have Windows services of local MySQL Server instances, the connections for them will be automatically created and available in MySQL for Excel's welcome panel.
If MySQL Workbench is later installed, then at the next time MySQL for Excel runs it will attempt to migrate all connections in its own connections file to the MySQL Workbench's connections file, so that in the future both MySQL for Excel and MySQL Workbench share these connections. A prompt is shown to the user informing that connections are going to be migrated to MySQL Workbench. If the user refuses to migrate, then the connections stay in MySQL for Excel's connections file, but on the next run it will attempt to perform the migration again.
The migration or editing of Workbench connections in MySQL for Excel CANNOT be done if MySQL Workbench is running, if this is the case MySQL for Excel shows an error stating that Workbench must be closed.
If you do not see the Workbench connections in MySQL for Excel and your Workbench version is >= 5.2.42 it may be because connections were not migrated, or because Workbench and MySQL for Excel are not installed in the same computer.
Without more information this is all that I can tell. Hope it helps.
Best regards.
