mysql for excel “filter database objects” grays out all options

I have been using mysql with mysql for excel for a week or so with no problems. I have moved tables from mysql to excel, added data, and moved the updated tables back to mysql. Then, suddenly today, when I opened mysql for excel, I clicked on the appropriate local connection I have been using, and got the expected list of schemas. However, when I selected the appropriate schema, or any schema in the list, the “filter database objects" window shrank to a sliver of height, and all import, export, and edit options became greyed out. The databases and tables exist in my MySQL program, which still works fine. I was not aware of making any changes in the mysql for excel setup.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
