This sounds like a bug, but I am unable to reproduce using Excel 2016 in Windows 10 with MySQL for Excel 1.3.6.
Can you share more details about your environment and the steps you are following as detailed as possible?
Preferably please go to
https://bugs.mysql.com and raise a bug report for this with all the information needed to reproduce the bug.
