Event to import data from a text file

Hello there,
Is it possible to create an event that enables me to automatically import data from a specific text file into a table?
What I would like to do, is to put the txt files in a directory of my web server, and then have some kind of event or procedure im mysql that inserts the data in those txt files to some tables.
Can anyone help me how to do this?
