Re: improve the chances crash recovery for MyISAM
A crash _may_ leave _some_ MyISAM unusable until RECOVER TABLE is run (possibly via mysqlcheck). During RECOVER, the table being recovered will be inaccessible. If it is a big table (millions of rows), that could be a long time. Period. End of discussion.
So, what to do?
* Avoid crashing. What causes the crashes?
* Switch to InnoDB.
* Tuning _may_ help speed up RECOVER _some_. But it is unlikely to help as much as you probably want.
