A follow up question:
This has been an on-going concern for me. The document you recommended suggests several configuration changes that should be considered. What is the preferred way to make those changes? Where do you do it and how?
Several months ago, I was considering a configuration change, and I was looking at the config file (cant remember the exact name of it or its location), but when I tried the make the change, the mysql server immediately crashed. I had done this on a test system and it was ok...but that was a single user system.
So again, should configuration changes be make directly to the config file using a text editor or can it be done within mySql Administrator? Should the server be shut down when doing this?
We are using version 5.7 of MYSQL.
