Thanks for the information. We guessed that it was doing garbage collection of some kind, perhaps redoing indices. Anyway our large table is volatile with lots of updates . inserts amd deletes. We also have long running queries. In general would reducing the duration of our queries in turn reduce the need for row versions and reduce the duration of these garbage collections?
Is there variable or option to control how or when innodb will initiate garbage collection? We would like to be able to control when and to what degree garbage collection is carried out.
Would this be a new feature? If so how do I request it?
