A relational database isn't just a filing system. It's a complex logical data management system for which one of a dozen fundamental rules is: no back doors. That includes opening an .ibd file directly.

The Delete command invalidates the specified record(s). The space the record(s) occupied is flagged as re-usable.

If you're concerned about unauthorised snoopers, set up security such that they can't get in.
