Choosing CPU(s) for MySQL

Hi all, in the coming months I will be setting up a new server for my website, and want to be sur eI get things right.

I intend to have 15000 SCSI's with raid ribboning (the one for speed rather than redundancy), but could use some thoughts on what processor to go for, and whether multiple processors are worth the effort.

So, my question is...

What processor should I go for, Athlon, Xeon, P4?
Should I go for multiple processors, and what about having 'fake' multiple processors (HT)? Should this be disabled on a MySQL server if applicable?

Thoughts on both of these, for cases:
a) The server will be running Apache and running PHP pages as well as MySQL.
b) The server will just be a database server.

Would be much appreciated... :-)
