Hi,

The query that you show here, does not have the same ORDER BY clause as the one you presented earlier. The mentioned LIMIT optimization is not applicable for the latest query since it does ordering on columns from different tables. Do you get a different query plan from 5.5 also for this query?

Maybe your best option is to test 5.7 and upgrade directly from 5.5 to 5.7 when you are ready for that.
