Hi James.
Your Query seems to result in a dependency of partid being in the data_i16 table, however it is in the session table.
I posted the table create statements in my prev. post.

If I should formulate the challenge then it is to get the latest set of values depending on a "foreign" key criteria.
I have read your groupwise max, and I am trying to see if I can convert it into a correct Query.

My data might be better suited to NoSQL, but I would prefer to get the speed from the X years of mysql Development, rather than just a dark pool of data :-)
