Hi,

For InnoDB, queries will be slower the first time after restart since data will then have to be read from disk. Also without restart, if it has been long since the query was last run, the data pages for your query may have been replaced in the buffer pool by pages used by other queries. Maybe you should increase the size of your InnoDB buffer pool?

I am not an expert on full-text search, and I am not sure I understand what kind of customization you are thinking of.
