Re: Replication Security

Hello all,

I have the exact same question. I have two servers in two different geographical locations. I would like to securely replicate from one server to another. I have been researching this and I came up with the following website that talks about creating an ssh tunnel for the replication.

http://www.guydavis.ca/projects/oss/docs/ssh_mysql.jsp

Is this the only way to replicate securely over the Internet? If I don't set up an ssh tunnel can a third party catch the transmission from the master to the slave and read the results?

Any responses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
