Differentiate between Read/Write

Dear Friends,

I have a Master / Slave setup, and would like to put Write/Read operations to the Master and Read operations to the Slave.

I would like to know if there are any opensource/commercial software out there that can intercept at 3306 port and differentiate between Read/Write and then redirect to the correct mySQL. Or, if i write something like that, would it be possible?

I know a clustering solution is most likely to suit my need, but i've tried NDB, as well as EMIC. Both didn't work for me in my environment.

Please help.

thanks
Leo
