I should add:

The server id's are unique.
We're doing ROW-based replication.
The high IO is on both servers (again, they are both masters and slaves of each other).
We can't find any files in the data directory growing at this rate.
When running `select EVENT_NAME,ROUND(SUM_NUMBER_OF_BYTES_WRITE/1024/1024) as MB_WRITTEN from performance_schema.file_summary_by_event_name;` in a 2-second loop, we found no file IO summary that accounts for the high disk io.
