yes first is a full backup using mysqldump then binary logs, LVM has issues in whilst hard disk failures. Innobackup or ibbackup is commercial too and it goes along with Mysql Enterprise edition not as a seperate plugin. And xtraDB from Percona is quite cool one for hot backups on innodb but not as good for myisam. :) I better be with my approach..
