MySQL Error number 2003???

Hi!

I already searched for these forums, and noticed that many many others are having same problems than me; can't connect MySQL server with Administrator. I did not find any working solution for me anyway, so might anyone have any other good ideas...?

I'm having MySQL 5.1 running on Ubuntu 6.0.6. Default DB created during the installation seems to be OK, and I can see it's content locally from the server. The administrator tool (that is installed on the other Windows machine) just won't work, I always get the "MySQL Error number 2003 can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.2.101'". Ping works OK, used port is 3306 on both sides, and there are no any firewalls in between. I'm just wondering that what username & password should I give for the GUI: Linux root / some other Linux user / some MySQL user / MySQL root or what?? Anyway, I have tried all of these, but nothing works... What should I try next?

I just wonder that there really is an administration tool that needs lots of administration before it works...?? Shouldn't it be so that all this user admin stuff could be handled from the administration GUI, NOT by writing some cryptic commands on the server CLI??
