I have the same issue, and unless I'm missing something this just seems like really lazy programming. Requiring you to type dummy characters into the port field even when it's meaningless just to let you hit the OK button? Messing up and disabling features because a period doesn't look like the string "localhost" or the numbers "127.0.0.1" when the software obviously "knows" what the dot means?
Are these really bugs? They seem so basic. I'm new to this tool and to using mysql on the Windows platform, so I keep thinking I must be missing something basic.
Did you ever find out any more about this?
