cannot install PhpMyAdmin with Mysql 5.7

Hello,

I already created a bug repport for this on phpmyadmin side
but things are not clear where the fault resides

so when installing phpmyadmin, it need to setup its own DB
but doing so, it complains about a mysql error

Empty value for 'port' specified

From support I could gather it appears something has changed on Mysql side
it should accept an empty port and use

can someone tell me how to solve this ? is there a workaroun ?
