Hi, the reason the support for old password was dropped is because can be easily compromised, ie. cracked.

So is basically a security bug, the trend is towards dropping support for it in other client tools too.

You could still create an account specific for the reporting tool using Native 4.1 passwords (accounts for different passwords mechanisms can easily coexist in a single mysql server instance).

In any case, it is recommended to migrate away from the old password due to the mentioned lack of security.
