MySQL NET Connector - High server CPU

We recently updated our MySQL Connector to v8.0.23 from v6.2.3.0. We're using only the MySQL.Data.dll. We noticed that the Windows servers running the upgraded connector are running at a higher average CPU than the servers using the old version. We haven't ruled out other issues, but I wanted to check to see if this is expected from the newer version of the connector?
