Thanks Jon. While there are other options for generating xml output from a sql query, users might find xaware easier and offering many additional useful functions for dealing with xml that could be useful. If the 500MB all-in-one download bothers you (it includes Eclipse and JBoss for a fully configured design, test, deployment evironment) you could use instead the 56MB Eclispe update to add xaware to an exiting Eclipse environment. xaware is worth a look to compare to the other options Jon references.
