The current release candidate (1.2.2c1) on SourceForge should compile without any patching (and probably without any configuration). Get it here:

If you are interested in testing on Windows, you need to do it soon, because I want to do the final release this weekend so I can concentrate on 1.3.0. Shortly thereafter I will probably get a binary package for Windows, but I don't have a Windows system to build on, so someone will have contribute a build.
Note: You need to be able to compile C extension modules to use the source package.
