Thanks Geert.

I think I might have missed the $PATH part. I ended up using the .dmg to install MySQL and it works nicely. I also used Python 2.6.1 as you recommended. 2.6.2 was giving me issues. It could have been the root cause of all my issues but I don't have the time to sort that out. Your solution works beautifully.

I will check out your new MySQL connector. We use SQLAlchemy so MySQLdb is a requirement for now.
