Importing Boolean values from Access

I'm converting Access tables to MySQL and using Access as the front-end. When -1 is imported, MySQL turns it into a 1. Using Access as the front-end, whenever a checkbox is checked, Access enters a -1 into the MySQL database.
My question is what is the best way to handle this problem?
I could search/replace all the imported 1's to -1 and that way I wouldn't have to change all the queries which use -1's as criteria.
It's a big job as I'm dealing with hundreds of tables and thousands of fields, so I'm just looking for the most efficient way of handling the problem.
