Hi Peter, Thanks for the quick response.
Yeah, that's what I meant, one table with 1286 rows, and yes I can query it directly from a MySQL command line client. The error message Access was giving said 'ODBC--call failed'.
Now here's where I get to admit what I guess was a foolish mistake on my part. I was doing some further checking trying anything from the trace file that I thought could be a pertinent error code and found something suggesting that users must use the unicode ODBC connector. Sure enough, changing to that appears to have fixed the problem.
