An added tip for you: I had to do the same with a few tables and I used the same solution (checking a variable to see if it's been set or not) but I found it hard to manually edit the tables. I ended up creating a function that would check both the variable and a global variable that I had set in another table called config. This is just an easy way to turn off triggers temporarily and globally.
