Hello,
I am starting to have a firmer grasp on the three options you described from your 1st reply (I apologize for not quoting; I am not sure how the quote feature works on this forum). From what I read (on the article and the replies to my original post) I think I see that shared hosting may be more desirable in the long run; I plan for the finished program to be used for a long time, therefore needing the server to be up for a long time as well.
The article did provide some clear instructions on how to create my own server though, so perhaps for a first try/draft I might try to set up a home computer server for now.
