Well, rethinking about the whole issue, case folding and accent stripping sounds fine. Except that ñ, a Spanish character, is not an accented n for Spaniards (while ó is indeed an accented o) for a whole different letter with its own name.

Any way to explicitly exclude ñ from accent-stripping (but not case folding)? ç would be a similar character for Catalan, where it is definitely not the same as a c. I cannot point you to any standard. This post was originally posted at "Newbies"…

If it is somewhat complex, now that I understand the issue, I can live with it.
