thanks for thr reposnse Rick, I'll take a look at the document. I'm still very apprehensive about this as I'm very new to MySql. Doing a bit more digging, I'm convinced that the three objects concerned are views only, not tables. The fact that I'm getting that message usinig a mysql client on the same server as where the database currently runs (pre-migration), doesn't that imply that the views don't work now, and that they are useless? Maybe an abandoned "work in progress"?
I think that the charset is set in the dump. There's not much you can change about that side, is there?
