Do
SHOW CREATE VIEW viewname \G
You will see something like this:
*************************** 1. row ***************************
View: hostls
Create View: CREATE ALGORITHM=UNDEFINED DEFINER=...
character_set_client: latin1
collation_connection: latin1_swedish_ci

Note that there is a charset associated with the VIEW. In your case, it is probably the wrong charset.

Recommend you drop and recreate the view with the appropriate charset and collation.

Probably this is the way:
SET NAMES 'utf8' COLLATION 'utf8_general_ci';
CREATE VIEW ...;
