Numeric equivalents of characters

I need to take a letter (Hebrew in this case) and convert it to its ascii numeric equivalent. For example, aleph א is 1488. In English, capital P is 77. I know the ascii() function does the leftmost character, but I need entire words converted, ideally with a space or such between the words.
